AI & Search Visibility

Find out whether AI can read your site

A growing share of the people evaluating your business only ever read an AI's summary of you. Seven deterministic checks score whether that machine can read, understand and cite you.

What the lens checks

Can AI assistants and search engines find, understand, and recommend you? Every check below scores a piece of that answer, with the evidence quoted.

  • AI-crawler access

Reads your robots.txt and reports GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended as allowed, blocked, or unspecified. Accidental blocks are common, and the fix is one line.

  • llms.txt

A plain-text file at your root that tells a language model what your site is and which pages matter. Checked for presence and for not being empty boilerplate.

  • Structured data

JSON-LD, present and of the correct types. Organization and WebSite are the floor; FAQPage and Article earn their keep depending on what you are.

  • Semantic HTML

One h1, headings that descend in order, real landmarks. Everything that makes a page legible to a model also makes it legible to a screen reader.

  • Meta and Open Graph

Title, description, canonical, and the OG set that decides what your link looks like when it's shared.

  • Sitemap

Present, valid, and actually listing the pages you want read, not a stale file advertising routes that 404.

  • Question-shaped content

Whether anything on your site answers a question in the form a person would ask it. Assistants retrieve against questions.

How it's scored

  • 20 of the 100 points, split across the seven checks. All deterministic: pass or fail, with the fix attached.
  • The lens is capped at 20 on purpose. Presence checks prove the engines can read you; they can't prove the engines cite you. We'd rather cap the lens honestly than score you out of 40 on a proxy.
  • The checklist comes back item by item in its own report module.

Frequently asked questions

Are these checks opinions?

No. All seven are deterministic presence checks. Either the file, tag or structure is there or it isn't, and the report shows each one as pass or fail with the fix.

Why is the lens only worth 20 points?

Because presence checks can only prove the engines are able to read you, not that they actually cite you when someone asks. Finding that out means running the queries, which is paid-audit territory. The cap keeps the free score honest.

What fails most often?

Accidental crawler blocks. A wildcard disallow copied from a template, a plugin default, or a CDN rule nobody has revisited. Most owners discover the block rather than having decided it.
